Kathleen Baker
Kathleen Baker is an art jeweler and metalsmith from Portland, Oregon. After years in the high-tech sector, she started exploring metalsmithing to balance the intensity of the business world with a more personal form of expression. Jewelry was a natural fit given its small scale, intimate nature, and infinite possibilities.
Kathleen’s designs juxtapose strong, spare shapes and unexpectedly organic flourishes and elements. The beauty of these forms, whether found in urban or natural settings, drives her aesthetic.
Many different metalsmithing techniques are combined in the creation of Kathleen’s work. She predominantly uses fabricated forms of sterling silver and/or high-karat gold, incorporating gemstones, to design her collections.
