Raphael Schnepf

Raphael Schnepf moved from New York City to San Francisco in the early sixties and has been on the west coast ever since. He now lives with his very talented wife Margaret Joyce in Milwaukie Oregon.

He started his art education in New York at the High School of Industrial Art, studied photography in the Navy and graduated from Cooper Union Art School. He got his BFA at San Francisco Art Institute. After traveling around Europe in 1964, he moved out to a cabin north of S.F. and started creating psychedelic art and rock posters for several venues which led to record album covers, comics and other music promotion.

Raphael took up airbrush painting and developed a photo-real style for posters, book covers, and illustration. He moved from Northern California to Portland in 1986 with Savoy Studio who were a well-known glass studio. He has worked with them over many years as a designer and glass painter, all the while continuing his illustration career.

He recently got back to oil painting and spends most of his time painting in the field or his studio creating fine art.
